We would like to send you an
 up-to-date about events taking place in the coming days in Greece with the support of the Austrian Embassy :

19th-21st September, Kalymnos / Kos / Rhodes:

The “Dodecanese Festival”, organized already for years by the Embassy, will also be held this year.

The Baroque Ensemble “Accentus Austria” (Thomas Wimmer - viola da gamba, Ulli Angel - baroque violin, Michael Posch - flute and Erich Traxler - harp) will perform -  under the title «Aria Viennesa» - important works of Viennese baroque music - Johann Caspar Kerll (1627 - 1693), Marco Antonio Ferro († 1662), Bartolomeo de Selma y Salaverde († 1638), Wolfgang Ebner (1612-1665), Gottfried Finger (1660 -1730), Linzer Orgeltabulatur (1611-1613), Johann Heinrich Schmelzer (1623-1680), Alessandro Poglietti († 1683) and Emperor Leopold I.

The concerts will take place on 19th September  at 8.30pm in Kalymnos (Eparchion Square, see here TV-Spot), on 20th September at 9pm in Kos (Cultural Center Hani) and on 21st September at 9pm at the Grand Master’s Palace in Rhodes as the inaugural concert of «Music in Rhodes Festival». 21st September, Athens:

On this day, 3 completely different events with Austrian participation will be held in the Greek capital:

On the occasion of the European Day of Languages, ​​EUNIC Cluster Greece Athens - with the support of the City of Athens - will organize from 10am until 5pm on Klathmonos-Square a great event with language courses, cultural events and an online quiz.

Austria will be represented at this event besides the Austrian Embassyby ÖSD (Austrian Language Diploma), in whose examination centers in Greece German courses and exams are carried out (Athens / Maroussi:Deutsches Kurshaus / Chios : Globalhaus). The cultural contribution of Austria is: «Waltz in the Heart of Athens».

The first "Career Guidance Workshop" at the German School of Athens will also be held from 10am to 5pm and will provide people having an excellent knowledge of German important information on matters such as labor market prospects in Greece and in German-speaking countries, the access conditions of professions, job opportunities, job vacancies. There is the possibility of personal meetings with many companies and institutions, as well as of participation in workshops (registration: Mrs Karaminas, tel : 210-610 6589, E-mail: info@ex-dsathen.gr) and lectures.

Organizers of the "Career Guidance Workshop" are the German Schooland the Alumni Association of the German School of Athens. The event is under the auspices of the Embassy of Austria, Germany and Switzerland.

In order for the "Career Guidance Workshop" to work effectively for you personally, the organizers would like to ask you to register atwww.dsathen.gr  or www.ex-dsathen.gr  and point out which occupations interest you. Participation in the "Career Guidance Workshop" as well as in working groups is free of charge.

At the invitation of the Greek Association of Art Historians, the famous Austrian art historian Rudolf Preimesberger will hold a seminar on Baroque art (New Benaki Museum, 138 Pireos Str., 11:30am-2pm and 4pm-6pm). Admission is free.

 

25th September, Athens:

The guitarist Yiorgos Noussis, who lives in Vienna and is a graduate of the Mozarteum in Salzburg, will perform on 25th September at 8.30pm in the building of the Association of Greek Archaeologists ( 134 Ermou str., Thission).

Yiorgos Noussis is a professional soloist, ensemble musician and studio musician as well as an arranger of music and music teacher. His compositions include a combination of jazz and classical guitar. He has won numerous competitions and gives concerts throughout Europe in national and international festivals, as for example in Greece, Austria, Germany, Poland, France, Serbia and Slovakia.

In 2008 Yiorgos Noussis recorded his first CD, «An introduction to a theme», which is a collection of eight original compositions. Now he hasreleased his latest CD, «My guitar».

 

29th September – 1st December:

In this year's Athens Biennale - «4th Athens Biennale 2013 AGORA» - two famous Austrian artists, Rainer Ganahl and Oliver Ressler will be present. The Biennale will take place at the former Athens Stock Exchange building (8-10 Sofokleous Str.).

 

In addition, these exhibitions with Austrian participation are still going on:


1st September  - 31st October, Patras:

The International Festival of Fine Arts in Patras “Re-culture 2” takes place this year under the motto "Poverty - Solidarity – Ways out". Austria is represented by the eu-art-network from Eisenstadt including Wolfgang Horwath and Hans Wetzelsdorfer.

 

12th September – 11th October, Athens:

In the exhibition “If sports is the brother of labor, then art is the cousin of unemployment ...”, artists - mostly from Austria and Greece ( Eleni Bagakis , Margarita Bofiliou , The Callas, Cut and Scrape, Hélène van Duijne, Marina Faust, Kerstin von Gabain, Martin Grandits, Michael Lukas, Helmut Mark, Albert Mayr, Milan Mladenovic, Johann Neumeister, Katherina Olschbauer, Panos Papadopoulos , Elizabeth Penker, Rade Petrasevic, Chloe Potter, Chris Rosa, Alex Ruthner, Björn Segschneider, Nino Stelzl, Lilli Thiessen, Dorota Walentynowicz, Lukas Willmann, Woozy) - share their views on life in the midst of crisis.

The exhibition will be on show at Pindaros (24 Sofokleous str.). The organizer is CAMP (Contemporary Art Meeting Point), with which the Austrian Embassy has been working closely for a long time.

 

By the way:

Did you know that Vienna is the largest university city in the German-speaking area? According to recent data, there are currently 186.862 students in Vienna. Next come Berlin, Munich and Hamburg.
