Finland has the most wireless broadband connections per capita in the world. According to a report by the OECD, there are 106.5 wireless broadband connections per 100 members of the population in Finland. Most are for mobile phones.
This is just slightly more than in Sweden, which is listed in second place.
The average for OECD countries is 63 wireless broadband connections per one hundred people.
As for optical fibre networks, Finland is still far from the lead. Only a few percent of fixed broadband connections are optical, compared with over 60% in Japan and South Korea, and over 30% in Estonia and Sweden.
According to a separate survey by the American company Akamai, Finland ranks in fourteenth place in the world in terms of average network connection speed. In Finland, the average broadband connection clocks in at 7.7 megabits per second.
