The current Georgian government has been leading the country for less than a year but there have already been positive economic changes in regards to Russia. In the first six months of this year Georgia exported more than $63 million worth of goods to Russia. That is almost three times more than the same period last year.
Most of those exports are Georgian wine and mineral water. Already in 2013 more than 2 million bottles of alcohol have been shipped to the Russian Federation and according to most estimates, this will reach 5 million bottles.
Besides wine and water, other agricultural products are in line to enter the Russian market. These include dried fruit, hazelnuts, laurel leaves as well as some vegetables. Analysts also suggest that Russian exports to Georgia will also increase.
